About Beth

Beth received her Master’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Maryland School of Architecture in 1987.  While raising her family she kept her hand in the field by doing freelance design projects for other architects and on her own.  She actively resumed employment in architecture in 2000, doing hand drawing for a construction firm that specializes in high-end ranch renovations.  Between 2002 and 2008, she was employed full-time by Place Architecture and Comma-Q Architecture, both located in Bozeman, Montana, where she worked on a variety of projects ranging from medium-scale residential and commercial projects to large-scale government and institutional projects.  She has been a registered architect since 2009, is NCARB certified with an active registration in Montana.

Collaborative Design Team

Beth frequently collaborates with Craig Miller of Living Places Design Studio and Ferdinand S. Johns, AIA.  We began collaborating in 2009 because we feel that we have innovative ideas that can transform the way people think about their building projects.  We believe that the design of architecture should be an authentic response to the place in which is it located, the specific program requirements (functionality), and the lifestyle / work-style of the client.  We seek to listen to and understand a client’s needs, wants, hopes, dreams and aesthetics as our primary catalyst for design inspiration.  We care about the future of our planet and, therefore, strive for creative solutions to design issues that are economical of resources and respectful of the built and natural environment.  Beth and her collaborators, Craig Miller and Ferdinand Johns, represent over 60 years of experience in the practice of architecture, planning and design.  Projects designed by the principals have received recognition for design excellence, including 20 national, regional and state AIA design awards.
