YOUNG CAREERIST
Feb. 24, 1999
Debra A. Gill has been named the 1999 "Young Careerist" by Bozeman Business and Professional Women (BPW). Judging was based on the candidates' career achievements and future ambitions as well as the ability to project an image that reflects the role of today's young work force in society. Candidates were judged on four phases of competition: written biographical information, personal interviews, group interaction and prepared speeches.
Currently, Gill is the Executive Director of the Bozeman Deaconess Foundation for Gifting. She is responsible for directing the capital fund raising activities of the Foundation, developing a high level of public awareness about Bozeman Deaconess Health Services programs, and gaining financial support for the Foundation through philanthropic donations. Prior to her work with the Deaconess Foundation, she was the Assistant Director of Development for the MSU Foundation.
Gill has been involved within a volunteer capacity with various local groups including the Gallatin Performing Arts Center, Gallatin Council, United Way, Chamber of Commerce, Gallatin Community School, and Rotary, among others. She received a B.A. in Speech Communications/PR from Montana State University and is currently working on an M.A. in Public Administration, also at MSU. Gill attended Fergus High School in Lewistown, MT.
Alicia Bradshaw, field director for Senator Max Baucus, was the second candidate who participated in the Young Careerist program. Judges for the competition were Jaynee Groseth, director of Alumni Relations at the MSU Foundation; Laurie Shadoan, president and owner of the Baxter Hotel Corporation; and Michele DuBose, regional director of the Small Business Development Center.
The Young Careerist Program is sponsored by BPW/USA to highlight the achievements of women between the ages of 21 and 35 who have been employed in business or the professions, with at least one year of experience in the chosen career field, who live or work in the area and who support the mission, vision and legislative platform of BPW/USA.
