The Montana Business and Professional Women’s Foundation, Inc., founded in
1995, was formed to create a source of financial and individual support to
Montana women to assist them in developing their potential. This is a
separate non-profit corporation and its’ board of directors are BPW
members from around the State. The Foundation established a $30,000
endowment base before any funds were distributed. The funds came from
individual BPW members, local BPW organizations, fundraisers and other
contributions. Bozeman BPW contributes $2 per member of your dues toward
the Montana BPW Foundation. Their current program awards financial
assistance to Montana women for education and personal advancement toward
self-sufficiency, professional development, personal fulfillment,
leadership, and acquisition of skills. Financial assistance and
professional resources are available for education, work training,
business development, personal projects, and programs which educate and
empower participants. Funds may be used for the support of educational and
professional pursuits, and for the support of those pursuits, for such
things as books for school, child care expenses during school,

The Montana Women’s Lobby (MWL) is a partnership of American Association
of University Women (AAUW) and Montana Business & Professional Women
(BPW). This non-profit corporation is organized to “develop, promote, aid,
and maintain legislation of interest to women, specifically in the areas
of: (a) economics, (b) health and reproductive rights, (c) education, and
(d) violence and legal rights.” The board of directors is made of up
members from each of the two organizations. The organization formed back
in the 1980’s and has had a presence in every Montana Legislative Session
since then, advocating for important women’s issues in Montana and
protecting those rights that we have earned. Our most well-known issue
that we won and have protected over the years is Non Gender Insurance. We
have a Legislative Day in Helena each February where members of BPW and
AAUW go to Helena, learn more about the current issues and lobby our
Legislators. Bozeman BPW’s budget pays $100 in dues to the organization
each year to pay for our Lobbyist. In the past few years we lobbied
Minimum Wage, Jessica’s Law, and Indian Education Act for All. For more
