BPW State Convention Results
The Montana Federation of Business and
Professional Women held their annual convention in Shelby Montana on May
22 and 23. Approximately 50 women attended representing 11 local
organizations from all over the state.
Events included a Young Careerist speak-off in which Kathy Hanpa from
Bozeman was chosen to represent BPW/MT at the National convention to be
held in July at Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.
The awards ceremony honored the State Woman of Achievement, Darla Joyner
of Belgrade; the State Employers of the Year: Montana Travel from Bozeman
and Gateway Community Services from Great Falls and the Member of the year
G.G. Weix from Missoula.
Featured speaker was the current president of BPW/USA, Carolyn Grady of
Appleton, Wis. She "Turned Up the Volume" on the current issues facing
women throughout the nation including ratifying the ERA constitutional
amendment, continuing to advocate for Equal Pay for Equal Work - the Pay
Equity Act in congress and support of working women issues from child care
to healthcare.
Bozeman BPW is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization devoted to achieving equity for
all women in the workplace through advocacy, education and information.
